Richer, Warmer Finishes

A shift in color palette is a clear indicator of a new season, and interior designer Elizabeth Bennett, co-founder of KOBEL + CO, is particularly excited about this year’s transformation. While this typically applies to softer furnishings, Bennett notes that harder finishes like wood accents, countertops, and tiles are also embracing the seasonal change.
“We’re focusing on sourcing marbles with deep greens, violets, and caramel hues for a truly sophisticated touch,” Bennett says. Additionally, Bennett’s design team is anticipating a resurgence of rich wood tones and creamy whites this year. These hues are stunning in any room but are particularly enchanting in the kitchen, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for holiday gatherings.

The Rise of Aubergine in Paint and Textiles
We’ve already seen this trend reflected in several 2025 Color of the Year selections. Robins confirms that deeper hues, such as aubergine and cabernet, can add a touch of drama and sophistication. These shades are ideal for fall and seamlessly transition into winter.
Interior designer and KOBEL + CO co-founder Mallory Robins notes that the shift in colors extends to paint and textiles as well. “We’re enamored with the deep aubergine tones we’re incorporating into paint and textiles,” Robins says. “Moody autumnal hues are the perfect choice for kitchens, libraries, primary bedrooms, and dining rooms.”
Looks Inspired by Nature
Interior designer Steven Graffam of Stivale Graffam Home predicts that this fall will be marked by a resurgence of rich textures and colors inspired by nature. This includes a focus on seasonal earth tones like deep olives, burnt oranges, and rich browns, as well as an embrace of natural materials. “Woven rattan, chunky knits, and organic wood accents create a layered, inviting atmosphere,” Graffam says.

Hand-Blown Glass Lighting
Although metallic light fixtures have dominated interior design trends in recent years, interior designer Jess Diab of her eponymous design studio is noticing a growing interest in hand-blown glass lighting. “There’s a resurgence of interest in this centuries-old art technique, making modern glass blowers more accessible than ever before,” she says.
While lighting isn’t inherently associated with autumn, the darker days make it an ideal time to evaluate your home’s lighting plan and make necessary adjustments. Hand-blown glass fixtures, in particular, can be a captivating way to illuminate your home during the fall and winter seasons.
A Resurgence of Chrome

Interior designer Heather Peterson reports that her design firm is witnessing a significant resurgence of chrome finishes and fixtures this season, a trend she’s enthusiastic about. “I adore chrome in simple forms, such as a cube side table, as well as tubular fluid legs on furniture,” Peterson says.
While softer finishes like nickel and antique brass have dominated recent years, Peterson appreciates chrome’s ability to complement other on-trend elements. It particularly stands out against earthy 70s colors and tactile materials like leather and velvet. “Chrome is ideal for fall,” Peterson says. “The combination of sleek and warm elements creates a feeling that’s both edgy and balanced.”
