Rumors, Behr’s 2025 Color of the Year, is a sophisticated and sultry shade of red with undertones of ruby and brown. This playful yet luxurious color is both approachable and inspiring, making it a versatile choice for any space.
“Red was the big overarching trend we kept seeing, and when determining which version of the hue to go for, Rumors really checked all the boxes,” says Erika Woelfel, Behr’s vice president of color and creative services. “It’s approachable, it’s inspirational, it has great energy, and it’s tremendously versatile.”
Behr believes that Rumors reflects a growing sense of optimism and freedom among today’s consumers. Sarah Fishburne, The Home Depot’s director of trend and design, explains that people are becoming more confident in their own style and less reliant on trends. Rumors is a bold choice that can be incorporated into various personal styles, including vintage-modern-casual.
Rumors, Behr’s 2025 Color of the Year, reflects the growing popularity of red in the design and fashion world. Gucci’s creative maestro, Sabato de Sarno, declared Gucci Rosso the brand’s new “It” color earlier this year, and we’ve seen it everywhere from Salone del Mobile to the runways. Behr’s customers are also embracing the trend, with 76% saying they would consider painting a room red. According to a Behr survey, 73% of customers believe that red can add depth and character to an interior.
Want to add a bold pop of color to your home? Rumors, Behr’s 2025 Color of the Year, is the perfect choice. From kitchen cabinetry to front doors, this vibrant shade can make a statement in any room. For a dramatic effect, consider painting an entire room in Rumors with a high-gloss finish.
