Imagine a sustainable house made of cardboard, which is built in record time (only 1 day), can be taken anywhere and has an incredible durability of 100 years. Well, this project already exists and it’s called wikkelhouse!
Yes, and the responsible for this project is the Dutch design studio Fiction Factory. Although there are only 12 units currently manufactured – all in Europe – the leaders want to popularize the concept to the whole world.
With durability of 100 years and warranty of 50, this house is three times more sustainable than the popular masonry, and has a lower cost, about 25 thousand euros. In addition to being mobile, it is mounted on blocks step by step and is ready for about 24 hours. The size is variable and it can still be removed without problems.

But how can it last so long being made of cardboard? According to the developers, the key to sustainable home withstand wind and rain is a super glue that binds the various layers of the material, then covered with wood or other sturdier option chosen by the owner.
And for those who think that the property is uncomfortable, you’re wrong: you can do everything inside the house, normal tasks of day-to-day as bathing and rest.
Take a look to the pictures bellow and start imagining you inside of one of these houses.
