From May 23rd to 28th the Rivoli Theatre of Porto hosted the European Design Awards 2017.
A group of publishers, journalists, editors and academics, since 2007 gather together every year as the jury for this important event. Together, they evaluate and acknowledge the best examples of communication design in Europe from participants throughout the continent. For designers, this is an extraordinary opportunity to make their work more visible to a wider audience
When the closing date for submissions for the European Design Awards has passed, the jury evaluates the submissions and, after the winners are announced, the European Design Awards wraps up with a festival, followed by the Awards Ceremony itself.
As a total, the awards consist of 35 categories placed in seven groups, covering branding covering branding, packaging, exhibition design, typography, digital design, illustration and self-promotion.
Every year, the European Design Awards Festival and Awards Ceremony is held in a different city; this year it took place in Porto, the city chosen also as the the best European place to visit in 2017.
Known for its incredible architectural and design resources – both in antique and modern style – Porto represented without a shadow of a doubt the most appropriate destination for an event of this magnitude.
And the considerable success achieved in this edition can prove it!
