This enchanting construction has been recently designed by a team of proficient designers led by Ravish Mehra Deepak Kalra architecture studio. Situated in Calcutta, between Science Park and Park street, the Boutique hotel has 20,130 square feet and seven floors, that include 45 guestrooms, a restaurant and an event/conference space.
Exceeding all the expectations, the newfangled Barsana boutique hotel created a strong presence in the area with its elegant and bold façade dressed with the organic and imperfect texture of the locally procured stone.
Entering the building, guests are greeted by a marvellous peacock sculpture in brass, and besides that, the hotel is characterised by a horizontal line design, from floor to ceiling as well as warm colours.
Art is very much present in the hotel through pictures of local elements of Kolkatta, represented by an earthy and natural style that bring in just the right amount of energy to the interiors.
The interiors have been designed with the focus on a clearly functional manner, while creating the illusion of being in a much larger series of spaces internally; in particular, each room features specific, bright accent colours to add the much-needed zing and life to it, recalling the Indian culture, knowing for being full of colour and festivity.
Representative of the conviviality of the inherent culture is also the topmost floor. It includes the banquet hall, that can function as two separate units with a foldable partition wall or as one large hall based on the need of the hour. This space has been rendered to require minimal ornamentation while being set for a function.
The quirky colours, the pattern, the mirrored ceiling revoke again the colorful lifestyle of Kolkatta, a city rich in culture and tradition.
