Meet Monstera

Monstera began to enjoy popularity relatively recently, although in Europe it appeared quite a long time ago – in the XVIII century. And this tropical liana came to us from afar: from the equatorial forests of Guatemala, Mexico, South America. Her name may seem a little alarming, associated with monster, but most likely, it comes from the Latin word “monstrosus”, which translates as “bizarre” or “amazing.” This is a good reason not to believe the legends that are hovering around this plant.

  1. I have a 10 year old monstera that has not grown new leaves in the past year. It’s habit is scraggly although it has many large aerial roots. I need care and maintenance instructions. Can the roots be trimmed?
