Bedroom trends for 2025 suggest a nostalgic dip into the past, as experts predict a resurgence of vintage and retro styles.
“In today’s fast-paced digital world, a wave of nostalgia is emerging, and we predict it’ll get even stronger in 2025,” says Rachel London, chief marketing officer at Lick. “People are tired of cold, white minimalist spaces. They’re craving cozy, colorful rooms that tell a story and remind them of good times.” Below, six design experts share their bedroom trends to bring these nostalgic vibes into your bedroom.

The Feature Headboard
Instead of a feature wall or ceiling light, draw attention to your bed with a striking headboard design. Choose a luxurious headboard with tactile fabrics like velvet, and consider a curved shape for added visual interest. The bigger the headboard, the better. Let the headboard be the focal point, working against a neutral color palette or mirroring its pattern through rugs, bedspreads, and cushions for an eclectic touch.
Pink and Yellow
Buttery yellow, a popular paint color, pairs well with dusky pink, creating a sunlit atmosphere. Together, these soft, muted tones add warmth and tranquility to your home. Consider painting all surfaces in these colors for a cohesive and immersive look. Alternatively, incorporate them through accents like throw pillows or curtains for a subtler touch. The key is to experiment and find a combination that suits your personal style.
Statement Storage
Whether you’re a minimalist or a bit more disorganized, fitted wardrobes are the best way to declutter your bedroom and save floor space. Storage solutions that maximize every square inch are becoming essential. While fitted wardrobes used to be designed to blend in, they now often become the focal point of a room. Bright colors and decorative door handles add flair, and even the simplest wardrobes can be upgraded with paneling and molding.
Vintage and Nostalgia
Our love affair with vintage shows no signs of abating. To create a nostalgic bedroom, incorporate vintage and antique furniture. Stick to three decades per room to avoid clutter. Consider statement 70s wallpaper, Art Deco lamps, and a 1930s chaise longue for a cohesive and stylish look.
Panelled Walls
Wall paneling has become a popular DIY project, with inspiration easily found on social media. For a less daunting task, consider half-paneling, which is ideal for bedrooms. Paneling up to the headboard level creates a neat line around the room and adds classic architectural elegance to modern interiors. Use a contrasting or complementary color for the panels, such as a rich shade of olive green or navy blue. Pair this with a fabric-covered headboard that matches the panel color for a cohesive look.
All Over Wallpaper
Wallpaper can be used to create a cozy and cocooning atmosphere in a bedroom, similar to color drenching. Consider wallpapering the ceiling for a whimsical, tent-like effect, especially in attic bedrooms. When using wallpaper throughout a room, carefully manage the colors. Matthew Williamson suggests using the wallpaper’s colors as a guide for choosing soft furnishings and accessories.
