Have you ever imagine yourself sleeping on an open air hotel in the mountains? Now it’s possible, you just need to travel to Switzerland and spend a night in the Null Stern
In the mountains of Graubünden, at 6,463 feet above sea level, you’ll find amazing views—and a one-of-a-kind hotel experience: a new concept from the brothers behind Null Stern Hotels redefines the minimal hotel experience. There are no walls, no hotel property. What you’re getting is a bed with a couple of nightstands and lamps. But what you’re paying for is the incredible view that comes from sleeping on a Swiss mountainside without a roof over your head or walls boxing you in.

You won’t find a bathroom on-premises (however there is a public restroom 10 minutes away from the hotel), but you will get a butler-delivered salami sandwich and coffee in the morning.
Guests be warned: While the room is bookable every night between spring and fall, there’s a chance your reservation could be cancelled at the last minute due to poor weather. The price to spend a night in this hotel is around $250.
This isn’t the first quirky property from Null Stern founders Frank and Patrik Riklin. The name of the company translates to mean ‘zero stars’.
And, most unusually as their slogan, ‘the only star is you’ suggests this hospitality group strives for zero stars. However, playing with words, this new Alps venture lets guests sleep under millions of stars.
Really the Riklin’s define as conceptual artists that use hotels as their means of expression. Hence, their previous endeavour, which saw them transform a former nuclear bunker in Swiss city Teufen into a hotel.
Sound like something you’d plan a trip around? Head over to the Null Stern Hotels website.
