Zaha Hadid: From Architecture to Design

Anglo-Iraqi Zaha Hadid was one of the most renowned architects of these days. In 2004, she became the first woman to receive the Pritzker Prize for Architecture, an award that has existed since 1979, but had never recognized a female professional until that year.

Famous for projects that defy traditional forms, Zaha Hadid also signs design pieces. From bottle to luxurious furniture, the Blog of Architecture selected some objects signed by the architect, who draw attention either by daring or by association with major brands such as Adidas. Check it out!

Adidas Supershell

At the invitation of singer Pharrell Williams, Zaha Hadid designed a white model for Adidas, which includes the lines that are reference in their projects.

Series 7 by Zaha Hadid

The architect was one of the guests to re-read Arne Jacobsen’s famous Series 7 chair. The result was a piece faithful to the original, but with a base that reflects the modern spirit of his works.

Liquid Glacial

Produced especially for the David Gill Gallery in London, the collection was launched in 2012, but this year has received new pieces, such as this impressive stool that faithfully reproduces the shape, texture and shade of a glacier.

Sculpted Vases

In partnership with the British designer Gareth Neal, Zaha Hadid created these vases carved in oak. The unique design pieces represent the fusion of technology and craftwork.

Peekaboo Bag

Another fashionable example is this handbag from the Peekaboo collection of the Italian brand Fendi, made especially for a charity auction. Other personalities participated in the action, such as singer Adele and artist Tracy Emin.

Screen Shelving

Sculpted in absolute black granite for CITCO, the furniture enchants by the drawing, that seems to have come out of an impossible painting of Escher. Or, a miniature of an architectural project of the own Zaha Hadid.

Doll’s House

Not even a doll house signed by Zaha Hadid has conventional forms. Made of wood, the object is a puzzle that can be assembled in different ways, so that the architectural idea is maintained. It was created for a charity auction to help children.

Icon Hill

The cuvée Icon Hill red wine is produced by renowned winemaker Leo Hillinger. Of course the gourmet preciousness could not come in a simple package: for wine lovers and design, a limited edition of 999 bottles carries the signature of Zaha Hadid.

Tide

Made for the Italian brand Magis, this modern and multifunctional shelving system can be configured in a personalized way, forming horizontal shelves or niches. The color combination also varies according to taste.
