Bohemian Rhapsody
Bohemian Rhapsody is an enthralling celebration of Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and convention to become one of history’s most beloved entertainers. Following Queen’s meteoric rise, their revolutionary sound and Freddie’s solo career, the film also chronicles the band’s reunion, and one of the greatest performances in rock history. Not a simple movie but rather an experience you simply can’t miss out on, it was no surprise that Bohemian Rhapsody won Best Motion Picture – Drama on the Golden Globe Awards this January.

Ready Player One
Ready Player One is a 2018 American science fiction movie produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, so you know it’s good, right? The movie takes place in 2045, when much of humanity uses the virtual reality software OASIS to escape the desolation of the real world. Orphaned teenager Wade Watts discovers clues to a hidden game within the program that promises the winner full ownership of the OASIS, and joins several allies to try to complete the game before a large company run by businessman Nolan Sorrento can do so. A cinematographic masterpiece by a world acclaimed director that is suited for all ages, including plenty of video game, movie and pop art references from the 80’s – truly unmissable.
A Star Is Born
Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga partner up in this 2018 drama/romance with an incredible soundtrack and an even better story. Fresh and new, this movie tackles the undeniable love that two people have for each other’s talent, allowing us to watch this build up on screen to a full love story that is bound to tug at your heartstrings. With Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga performing the amazing soundtrack, it’s no surprise that “Shallow” won Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards this January.
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!
A continuation of the world acclaimed musical Mamma Mia, 2018 graced us with Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, taking the same cast 10 years later to write history once again. Let’s face it, we all had been waiting for this, and the truth is that it didn’t disappoint, not one bit. With more songs from the incredible Swedish band Abba being performed by this incredible cast, it’s no wonder that Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again had to be included in this list.

A Quiet Place
A Quiet Place is a 2018 American post-apocalyptic horror movie directed by John Krasinski, who wrote the screenplay with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. The movie stars Krasinski, alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, and it revolves around a family facing struggles in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing. It was so impactful, not only in the story itself but in the performance of the cast and depth of the script, that ever since then, many other movies have taken inspiration from it, such as Netflix’s Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock.
Crazy Rich Asians
Crazy Rich Asians is a 2018 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Jon M. Chu, and that stars such as Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Ken Jeong, and Michelle Yeoh. It follows a Chinese American professor who travels to meet her boyfriend’s family and is surprised to discover they are among the richest in Singapore. A fun and colorful movie for the entire family, it celebrates the Asian culture with an Asian cast that truthfully represents the plot or the movie and identity of the characters.
