This new American spot off the lobby of a landmarked luxury apartment building in FiDi has high ceilings and huge windows, and its perfect industrial design and open kitchen really makes you want to stay and enjoy what the city has to offer. But while it’s certainly upscale, Crown Shy doesn’t feel stuffy – the walk-in-only bar area, as well as the open kitchen and surprisingly affordable prices really draw anyone in and makes this an unforgettable and unmissable restaurant.
A totally unique eating and drinking experience, at Niche Niche, the emphasis is on the drinking – every night, the wine menu completely changes, and the accompanying food does as well. If you’ve just spent an entire day enjoying design at ICFF 2019, then you definitely need to visit this restaurant that will feel like a pleasure and a party every single time you enter it (yes, you’ll want to return).
The Fly is a restaurant/wine bar in Bed-Stuy from the people behind Cervo’s and Hart’s, and it has a very short menu. Aside from a sandwich, the only real entree is rotisserie chicken. However, there’s an incredible selection of wines, side dishes, and it’s the perfect restaurant for a fun night out with twist of playfulness and the ever so present style of modern interior design.
Oxalis is on a quiet block near Prospect Park, with an open kitchen, a spare 30-seat dining room, bright lights, loud music, and a small bar area in the back. It feels a lot like other casual spots but there’s nothing casual about the food at Oxalis, in fact, it’s a fine dining restaurant with all that it entails, from the amazing aesthetics of the meals arriving to your table, to the incredible scents and flavors that are a journey and experience on their own.
A meal at Benno is probably one of the most special ones you’ll have the honor at tasting in New York. There are some phenomenal options for each course (including the savory coddled egg with black truffle, skate almondine with crab mousse, and duck with foie gras). But it’s not just the food that is simply unmissable, but the restaurant’s interior design as well, with its classic 1950’s vibe with a touch of jazz and incredible colors that makes this a spot that we can’t recommend enough.
