Rich Colors
While this doesn’t mean this is the end for pastel and candy colors, this year we are definitely seeing richer colors a lot more! From their foyers to their bedrooms, people seem to want to have colors everywhere, making a statement throughout their house. Does this mean gray and white home decor have seen their days? Not exactly, but expect to see a lot less of them in a near future…
Tropical Patterns
This one was a given. In 2017 we had already started seeing tropical patterns surfacing Pinterest. Many of us were already trying to figure out where could we get that wallpaper, and that dinnerware set. Luckily, this year, the tropical madness went literally crazy and almost every home accessories and furniture brand decided to add this amazing print to their collections. In fact, Essential Home is now at Salone del Mobile presenting their new wallcovering collection Palm & Twist, with a gorgeous tropical palm leaf wallpaper!
Dark Wood
With the rich pigments came darker woods. The scandinavian design love seems to have winded down, and made way for darker shades of wood, such as walnut. This means that we are going back to the glamorous time of darker shades, which match rich colors and tropical patterns in the most flattering way possible.
Coastal Textures
Let’s talk about textures, now. More and more, interior designers are looking to create juxtapositions of colors, shapes and textures. And there are a few coastal textures that have come to gain momentum in the last few months. Rattan and wicker have come to steal the show, and they are currently being used throughout the house in furniture and accessories. With that in mind, fringes are also starting to hop from our wardrobes into our home decor, and we are definitely on board with that!
Metallic Accents & Marble
While copper is not as used now as it was in 2016 and 2017, metallic details are still loved by many, especially if you’re talking about brass. After copper and rose gold finishes everywhere, brass seems to have come to stay and it is currently a massive furniture trends everywhere! We can personally think of a few mid-century furniture items with brass accents that you might like…
As for marble, white marble is not being used as often, but instead green marble is taking the lead! After this gorgeous trend took over Pinterest, everyone seems to be loving green marble and how sophisticated it can look as a table top, for example.
Pineapple Madness
The last home decor trend we need to address is the current pineapple madness everywhere. All over the world, people seem to be loving anything that’s pineaple-related. From cute accessories for their living rooms, to pineapple-shaped candles, wallpapers and even lamps! One thing is for sure, it definitely goes well with the tropical pattern trend and it’s halfway to creating the trendy home of your dreams.
