Always looking for inspiration, today we found it in the utmost southern part of the African continent.
It’s been a habit, for the past few months, for us to talk about some of the interior design studios we love the most, and today we are turning our attention to South African studio Mi Designs. And while we can’t unveil everything, for there should always be something for you to discover on your own, we want to share with you our 5 favorite interior design projects by Mi Designs.
Mi Designs is an international interior-architectural design house, which was first established in 1994 by Maurette van Eyssen. Based in Port Elizabeth in South Africa, Mi Designs works with a wide portfolio of interior design related services, cultivating a big passion for handcrafted designer furniture, fabrics, art and object along the way.
The following five interior design projects are just a sample of why we can’t get enough of this design studio.
Gorilla Forest Camp, Uganda
A stunning project where earthy tones take the lead, Gorilla Forest Camp in Uganda won our hearts over with its elegant simplicity. Surrounded by nature, the designers took that feeling into the interiors, bringing stunning green and brown tones that enhance the soft materials chosen for the furniture.
Stanleys Camp, Botswana
Another gorgeous 3D visualization of a hospitality interior design project, this time in Botswana. Stanleys Camp comes with a very similar color scheme as the project shown above, which are all colors that play well with its natural surroundings. The sheer decor elements and mostly white color palette create a relaxing ambiance, perfect for interior design projects with such specifications.
“Devoted to the pursuit of beauty, functionality and design.”
Pearl Valley Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa
Mi Designs took conceptual design to another level with the Pearl Valley Hotel in the South African capital, Cape Town. Here, we can observe a more cosmopolitan color scheme as well as furniture choices. The open space that comprises both dining and living areas are all very reminiscent of the mid-century modern style, where elements such as the oversized floor lamp and the round center table seem to work as the biggest focal points in the room.
These dreamy Mauritius Villa 3D renderings make us want to buy a plane ticket right away. Mi Designs envisioned a place that perfectly fits with the paradisiac surroundings of the Mauritius island, allowing for floral patterns and a green/yellow color scheme to shine.
“Believers that each project we design should reflect our passion for beauty and commitment to quality.”
Resort Hotel, Europe
Traveling all the way back to Europe, this Resort Hotel designed by the South African interior design studio boasts a warmer color palette where red undertones seem to take the lead. At the same time, several darker wooden elements than we’d seen in the previous projects were added to the design. This allowed the designers to create a cozier and warmer ambience, that perfectly suits the needs of an Alpine ski resort, for example.
