As spring blooms in the vibrant city of Madrid, so does the anticipation for one of the most prestigious events in the world of interior design and decoration – Casa Decor. From April 11th to May 26th, 2024, aficionados of aesthetics and innovation will flock to the Palacio de La Trinidad, located at 82 Francisco Silvela Street, to immerse themselves in the latest trends in interior design, architecture, art, and beyond.
Casa Decor holds a distinguished status as Europe’s largest and most significant event in the realm of interior design, owing to its scale, duration, and media importance. In 2024, the event finds its home in the historic Palacio de La Trinidad, one of the few remaining private buildings of its caliber within Madrid’s urban landscape.
Nestled in the heart of the Salamanca District, at the intersection of María de Molina and Avenida de América, the Palacio de La Trinidad sprawls across 3600 square meters of land, surrounded by verdant gardens, imparting a countryside charm. Access to this architectural gem is through winding ramps that border a circular garden, adorned with a brick and ceramic wall housing a tranquil lake. Adjacent to the facade lies an elevated garden, featuring a grid-like pattern traversed by gravel paths, adorned with sculptures, fountains, and ceramic benches at every turn.
Its late regionalist style exhibits eclectic influences, notably from the Sevillian school, standing out amidst an era dominated by modern and functionalist architecture in new constructions.
The palace offers a myriad of spatial typologies, spanning across its three floors, a guest pavilion, and extensive gardens. With a square layout, the palace encompasses a basement, ground floor, main floor, a second floor, and attic spaces in the towers, situated diametrically in the anterior and posterior parts of the palace. The edifice boasts a grand hall, opulent salons, chambers, royal apartments, vaulted corridors, covered terraces, formal gardens, fountains, grottos, as well as a small chapel and a guest pavilion.
Casa Decor serves as a communication platform, uniting the key players in the decoration sector, including designers, commercial firms, and the general public. The inaugural edition of the event took place in 1992, with 43 decorators transforming the premises of a former convent in Madrid.
In 2022, a staggering 44,000 visitors (a 15% increase from 2022, attributed to extended exhibition hours) had the opportunity to revel in the event, featuring the participation of 153 companies, 55 interior design studios, architecture firms, designers, and landscapers, along with 7 artists and 18 artisan workshops, half of which hailed from abroad.
Casa Decor 2024 promises to be a convergence of creativity, innovation, and timeless elegance, offering visitors an immersive experience into the forefront of design trends and artistic expression. As the doors of the Palacio de La Trinidad swing open, a world of inspiration awaits within its historic walls, where every corner tells a story and every space ignites the imagination.
