During the 40s, at 8850 Evanview Drive, Judy Garland lived at an Art-Deco inspired L.A. home with her husband, film director Vincent Minnelli, and their daughter, Liza. With a crisp white facade, partly covered in sprawling ivy and a beautiful garden that is truly irresistible. This hillside home was built in the early 1940s by architect John Elgin Woolf, and it first welcomed actress Judy Garland for four years. Let’s take a look inside this stunning home!

As we stated before, this house was owned by some impressive Hollywood residents, such as its current owner, Sharlene Ernster, that renovated this home into the stunning modern space it is. This living room is an amazing example of the contemporary decor you’ll find in other rooms, leading to a spacious balcony.
Some other celebrities that have lived in this home was actor-comedian Wally Cox, as well as iconic entertainer Sammy Davis Jr., and even The Band, where they recorded their classic 1969 “Brown Album”.

This galley-style kitchen in neutrals is modern and stylish. Featuring custom-stone backsplash and stainless-steel appliances and ample cabinetry, this well-lit space is accessible from both the living and dining rooms, creating an amazing dynamic between the spaces.

The dining area offers a direct outdoor-access that brings a piece of nature inside, making the room feel more fresh. Curvy lines on the dining chairs and dining tables make the room feel more spacious. A touch of natural light just elevates the glamour of this dining room.

If you step down from the dining room, you’ll find another sitting area, with dark maple hardwood and expansive windows and door usher in natural light throughout. Beautiful contemporary armchairs and a circular center table really combines the pieces together.

Spread across 5,000 square feet, this house features open rooms connected via an open layout that makes this home feel comfortable and homey but also spacious. Marple hardwoods on the floor, white floor-to-ceiling windows frame that give an amazing view of Hollywood and the surrounding hills. You can also enjoy the outdoors on some of the several balconies scattered across three floors.


You’ll find the home to offer five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, as well as a gym, media room and even an office space.

A bright and airy bedroom can be found on the bottom level of the home, leading to the garden. A backyard garden feels like an urban oasis, and it was landscaped during Sammy Davis Jr.’s time living at the residence.


Downstairs you can find Liza Minelli’s original childhood bedroom, elegant and sophisticated. On the opposite wall of her bedroom, there are built-in, floor-to-ceiling bookcases that open to lead to Judy Garland suite, the original master bedroom.



A pool house can also be found, with 1,100 square-foot, and it servers as a private guest quarters, fully equipped with bar and lounge area, another bedroom and two baths.
