Sofía Vergara speaks candidly about the initial state of her expansive Beverly Park estate upon acquiring it. Reflecting on the property’s past, she vividly describes its abundance of arches and columns, likening it to a castle reminiscent of Transylvania. Despite its somewhat imposing appearance, the versatile actor-producer, currently embodying the role of Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in the Netflix series “Griselda,” found charm in the layout. She appreciates the panoramic views accessible from every room, even though the landscape lacked a flourishing garden at the time. Determined to infuse her personal touch, Vergara asserts her vision to transform the space into a reflection of her unique style and preferences.
As expected, there were hurdles to overcome. Despite the spacious rooms and lofty ceilings, Vergara aimed to imbue the house with a sense of warmth and relaxation, envisioning it as a cozy retreat where guests would feel at ease. However, the existing 1990s architectural style didn’t quite align with her desire for a home steeped in history and character. While the structure wasn’t brand new, it also lacked the aged charm that Vergara envisioned. Fortunately, fate intervened through Instagram, leading Vergara to discover the ideal collaborator for her renovation project. Admiring the work of Ohara Davies-Gaetano for some time, Vergara wasted no time in reaching out to the Los Angeles-based designer. Their connection was instant, and Vergara was enamored with Davies-Gaetano’s creative concepts. As they delved into the project, Vergara realized that much of her inspiration stemmed from Davies-Gaetano’s own portfolio, solidifying their partnership in crafting a home that surpassed her wildest dreams.
“Sofía articulated a clear vision for the project. She wanted a home that felt ethereal yet grounded, something fresh, clean, and bright, with lots of great antiques that added patina and warmth to the architecture,” the designer explains. “It had to feel layered and curated. Sofía wanted to tell a particular story,” she adds.
