From Tokyo to Paris: A Global Designer
Born in Tokyo to a multicultural family, Amfitheatrof grew up in cities like New York, London, and Rome, which fueled her eclectic artistic vision. A serendipitous O-Level art project ignited her passion for jewelry, leading her to train at Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Arts, where her talent for three-dimensional design flourished.
Amfitheatrof’s career spans decades of collaboration with fashion icons. Her early works were admired by Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio Armani, while her tenure at Tiffany & Co. saw the creation of iconic collections like Tiffany T and HardWear. In 2018, she joined Louis Vuitton to spearhead a new era of high jewelry, taking on the ambitious task of building a jewelry division from scratch.
JEWELRY AS ARMOR: THE DEEP TIME COLLECTION
Amfitheatrof’s designs often channel strength and resilience, as evident in her Deep Time collection. Inspired by Earth’s geological history, the collection unfolds in two chapters: Geology and Life. Pieces like the Gondwana necklace reflect tectonic shifts, while a flower-cut diamond centerpiece symbolizes the planet’s transformative power.
“We were all one supercontinent once,” Amfitheatrof muses. “The gemological veins of the Earth tell this incredible story.”
