The red carpet at the Oscars is always one the most awaited moments of the whole awards\u2019 season. It\u2019s the time for celebrities and nominees to give it all and showcase their best looks. 8. When Jimmy Kimmel and a bunch of celebrities gave out candy!<\/h4>\n

Yes, this actually happened! After Ellen\u2019s iconic pizza party, and Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s announcement that the Oscars are a really long show, the host decided to gather a series of his celebrity friends \u2013 which included Oscar nominee Margot Robbie, Gal Gadot, Lupiya Nyong\u2019o, Guillermo Del Toro, and Mark Hamill \u2013 to go out on the room and give out candy!<\/p>\n

7. 14th time\u2019s the charm<\/h4>\n

Well, it seems like Leonardo DiCaprio was not the only one to be patiently waiting for his time to win an Oscar. Cinematographer<\/em> Roger Deakins had been nominated fourteen times before he finally took home the golden statue last night for his outstanding work on Blade Runner 2049<\/em>! Congrats!<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s opening speech<\/h4>\n

Jimmy Kimmel was so amazing last year that the Academy asked him to host this year\u2019s cerimony again! Of course, the opening speech is always one of the Oscar highlights everyone is waiting to hear about. We loved it! With grace and just the right amount of comedy, Kimmel tackled all the issues we were waiting for: #TimesUp, last year\u2019s\u00a0Best Picture<\/em> drama and this year\u2019s amazing nominees. Thank you Jimmy Kimmel for another great year!<\/p>\n

5. Gary Oldman winning his first Oscar<\/h4>\n

The 90th Academy Awards<\/strong> <\/em>marked a lot of firsts, and this was also Gary Oldman\u2019s first time winning the golden statue.\u00a0Brilliant actor Gary Oldman finally took home his first Oscar last night, and after such an amazing performance in\u00a0Darkest Hour<\/em>, it was more than deserved!<\/p>\n

4. #TimesUp<\/h4>\n

The #TimesUp<\/strong> movement had an amazing segment dedicated to it, with three of its fierce advocates getting on stage and seizing this moment to talk about what still needs to be heard. Salma Hayek,\u00a0Ashley Judd, and\u00a0Annabella Sciorra\u00a0introduced a segment celebrating \u201cequality, diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality,<\/em>\u201d and if you didn\u2019t get a chance to see it, go rewatch the Oscars now!<\/p>\n

3. Jordan Peele\u2019s big moment<\/h4>\n

History was written last night when Jordan Peele\u00a0<\/strong>stood up to receive the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay,\u00a0<\/em>making him the first black screenwriter to ever get such a recognition. Although Peele didn\u2019t take home\u00a0the statue for\u00a0Best Director<\/em>, which would have been equally fair, we are still glad we could witness history in the making!<\/p>\n

2. When The Shape of Water<\/em>\u00a0won it all!<\/h4>\n

Although\u00a0Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri<\/em> started the night as the public\u2019s and critic\u2019s favorite to win\u00a0Best Picture<\/em>, with some people betting on\u00a0Get Out<\/em> to be the surprise of the evening \u2013 due to the 2018 Independent Spirit Awards<\/em> -, in the end, it was\u00a0Guillermo Del Toro\u2019s fable\u00a0The Shape of Water<\/em> that took home the coveted golden statue!<\/p>\n
