The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco-style skyscraper, designed by William Van Alen, and composed with 77 floors, and 32 lifts.<\/p>\n

It was the world\u2019s tallest building in the world in 1930, but 11 months later, the title was lost to Empire State Building, however is still the tallest brick building in the world with a steel framework.<\/p>\n

When the Chrysler Building opened in 1930, there were mixed reviews regarding the building\u2019s design, from being inane and unoriginal to being modernist and iconic.<\/p>\n

Perceptions of the building have slowly evolved, and it is now seen as a paragon of the Art Deco architectural style.<\/p>\n

In 2007, it was ranked ninth on the List of America\u2019s Favorite Architecture by the American Institute of Architects, and nowadays the Chrysler is the sixth-tallest building in the city, tied with The New York Times Building.<\/p>\n

It was one of the tallest buildings in the city at 20 floors high. The name of the building derives from its resemblance to a clothes iron.<\/p>\n
