Find out what BAFTA 2018 has in store to provide on the 18th of the next month. Several changes have been made, but will they work?<\/h2>\n

London is getting ready to, once again, welcome the most prestigious award show of the country. This year\u2019s edition will have plenty of surprises, from Stephen Fry stepping down and Joanna Lumley taking over, to the nominees.\u00a0BAFTA 2018<\/strong><\/em> sure is a ceremony not to miss.<\/p>\n

By the end of the 18th of February 2018, the world will find out what is the British Academy\u2019s position\u00a0 on this year\u2019s film pieces.<\/p>\n

For starters, the host has changed.<\/p>\n

For the past 12 years, Stephen Fry was the much-beloved host of the British Academy Film Awards but, this year is going to be different.<\/p>\n

\"BAFTA<\/p>\n

The next host to step in is going to be\u00a0Joanna Lumley.<\/p>\n

The legendary actress has won 3 BAFTA\u2019s in the course of her impressive career and, in 2017, was presented with the BAFTA Fellowship.<\/p>\n

Joanna has got over 70 credits in both television work and film.<\/p>\n

Some of her most notorious work include a participation in\u00a0The Wolf of Wall Street\u00a0<\/em>in 2013 and being in over 100 episodes of the 1973 television show,\u00a0Coronation Street<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We think Joanna is the right person for the job and, also, she is very excited to do it!<\/p>\n

Now, on to the nominees!<\/p>\n

Lets start with the most anticipated category: Best Film.<\/p>\n

This year has been a good one for movies, and that is proven by the sheer quality of the nominated motion pictures.<\/p>\n

Call Me By Your Name:\u00a0<\/strong>A young man named Elio is spending summer in his parents house in Italy. It seems like just another summer, until Oliver comes by to help Elio\u2019s father with his research.<\/p>\n

Darkest Hour:\u00a0<\/strong>A film about Winston Churchill and Great-Britain back when war with Germany was inevitable, Churchill is pressured to make a deal with Hitler, but the German Dictator resists.<\/p>\n

Dunkirk:\u00a0<\/strong>A movie about the Second Wold War and when German forces were fighting France and surround allied troops in Dunkirk beach.<\/p>\n

The Shape of Water:\u00a0<\/strong>Elisa works in a lab that holds an amphibious man in captivity. After falling in love for the creature, she elaborates a plan to help him escape.<\/p>\n

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri:\u00a0<\/b>After being upset by the police\u2019s inefficiency for solving her daughter\u2019s murder, Mildred decides to rent three billboards in a discrete street to bring awareness to the case, moving a lot of people.<\/p>\n

\"BAFTA<\/p>\n

And the nominees for Leading Actor, are\u2026<\/h3>\n

Daniel Day-Lewis\u00a0<\/strong>for Phantom Thread<\/em> (this is Daniel Day-Lewis\u2019s 7th BAFTA nomination, having won 4 times);<\/p>\n

Daniel Kaluuya\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Get Out\u00a0<\/em>(this is the first year Daniel is nominated, being also nominated for the Rising Star Award);<\/p>\n

Gary Oldman\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Darkest Hour\u00a0<\/em>(this is Gary\u2019s 5th nomination, having won 2 of those times);<\/p>\n

Jamie Bell\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Film Stars Don\u2019t Die in Liverpool\u00a0<\/em>(this is Jamie\u2019s second nomination, having won in 2001);<\/p>\n

Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Call me by Your Name\u00a0<\/em>(this his first nomination).<\/p>\n

\"BAFTA<\/p>\n

And for Leading Actress, the nominees are\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Annette Bening\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Film Stars Don\u2019t Die in Liverpool\u00a0<\/em>(this is Annette\u2019s 4th nomination, having won in 2000);<\/p>\n

Frances McDormand\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Three Billboards Outside\u00a0<\/em>(this is Frances\u2019s 4th nomination);<\/p>\n

Margot Robbie\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0I, Tonya\u00a0<\/em>(this is Margot\u2019s second BAFTA nomination);<\/p>\n

Sally Hawkins\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0The Shape of Water\u00a0<\/em>(this is Sally\u2019s second BAFTA nomination);<\/p>\n

Saoirse Ronan\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Lady Bird\u00a0<\/em>(this is Saoirse\u2019s 4th BAFTA nomination).<\/p>\n
