The architects of the Oiio studio have come up with a project for an alternative New York skyscraper<\/strong><\/em>, which, instead of height, strikes a length.<\/p>\n

The amazing design of these architects begins with a simple thought: \u201cWhat if we replace the height by the length? What if the buildings in Manhattan are long and not high? \u201cThe strict zoning laws of New York make developers constantly look for tricks in order to increase the important figure \u2013 FAR (floor area ratio), which determines the maximum area suitable for construction at this city side.<\/p>\n

This indicator also affects the height of the building, since the height is proportional to the level of FAR: for example, on a site with FAR 1.0, a developer can build a one-story house or a two-storey house, but on half of this plot. This zoning law was introduced in 1961, in order to prevent the absorption of skyscrapers of all light and air in the metropolis.<\/p>\n

Oiio Studio architects with their project are trying to prove that a skyscraper can hit Manhattan not only with height. And accordingly the price per square meter can grow not only depending on the height.<\/p>\n
