IKEA worked with Wilkinson Eyre Architects, Uulas Arkitekter and Ralph Appelbaum Associates to transform the store into a museum. It includes a permanent exhibition of over 20,000 pieces from the company\u2019s archive.<\/p>\n<p>The company also brought on board Stockholm-based Form Us With Love to add some finishing touches, having worked with them previously on a number of products. The brief to the studio focused on three areas: the introductory hall, the democratic design display and the interactive ball run.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3272 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2-2.jpg\" alt=\"2 Interactive exhibitions designed for IKEA Museum in Sweden IKEA museum Interactive exhibitions designed for IKEA Museum in Sweden 2 2\" width=\"2364\" height=\"3546\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2-2.jpg 2364w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2-2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2-2-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2-2-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2364px) 100vw, 2364px\" title=\"2-2 2-2\"><\/p>\n<p>Form Us With Love CEO Jonas Pettersson described the studio\u2019s involvement as \u201ctying things together\u201d, which he says they did mostly through materials and finishes. \u201cComparing this to other curation work we have done, it was very special, as the content was so in-depth and massive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>To begin with, the team worked on the introductory hall, where IKEA\u2019s flat-pack furniture is installed on two walls in a rainbow of colours. \u201cWe felt that the first room of the museum should project what IKEA is all about, without feeling daunting,\u201d said Form Us With Love creative director John Lo\u0308fgren.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3273 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/3-2.jpg\" alt=\"3 Interactive exhibitions designed for IKEA Museum in Sweden IKEA museum Interactive exhibitions designed for IKEA Museum in Sweden 3 2\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/3-2.jpg 2364w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/3-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/3-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.essentialhome.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/3-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2364px) 100vw, 2364px\" title=\"3-2 3-2\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt should be powerful and inspirational, a mix of well-known essential objects and elements of surprise.\u201d Three floors above the Introductory Hall, the Democratic Design display, location within the Our Story gallery, explores the journey from the first brief to a final product. To demonstrate this, Form Us With Love created an installation where visitors can touch and feel the various materials that IKEA products are made from.<\/p>\n<p>On the top floor of the museum is the studio\u2019s interactive sculpture, a large pipe that vertically descends through the atrium, all the way to the ground floor. It features a line of V-shaped pillars across its facade.
