Peter Marino,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>one of the\u00a0top interior designers<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in the world,<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is the principal of\u00a0Peter Marino Architect PLLC<\/strong><\/em>, an internationally acclaimed\u00a0architecture,\u00a0planning\u00a0and\u00a0design firm\u00a0founded in 1978 and based in\u00a0New York City, with several offices around US, like Philadelphia, Miami and so on. Marino\u2019s designs can be usually characterized by\u00a0emphasized materiality, texture, scale light<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and the constant dialogue between\u00a0interior\u00a0and\u00a0exterior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is widely known for his residential and retail interior designs<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for the most iconic names in the fashion and art worlds. Notable and recently completed retail projects include Ermenegildo Zegna flagship stores in\u00a0Paris,\u00a0Milan,\u00a0New York,\u00a0Tokyo\u00a0and\u00a0Shanghai\u00a0or Chanel boutiques in Paris, New York and\u00a0Singapore. Hospitality projects include the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Sardina, and Four Seasons Resort in Santa Barbara. Currently,\u00a0Peter Marino<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is designing\u00a0numerous private residences\u00a0around the world, including\u00a0London, Paris and Palm Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Marino\u2019s personal style is specific and indelible, his architecture and\u00a0interiors<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are much harder to pin down. Marino\u2019s boutiques do not instantly assault with their \u201cMarino-ness\u201d.\u00a0Like NY Mag wrote, inside a Marino space, it\u2019s all smooth-moving luxury<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, where drawers and doors close in perfect silence, and the elevator button is weirdly satisfying to push. They are well and flatteringly lit and, like Marino\u2019s office, full of eclectic collections of art. They feel rich and full and calm.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNine out of nine architects start with a sketch and then they say, \u2018What should we make it out of?\u2019 \u201d<\/em>\u00a0Marino says. \u201cI start from the bottom up, what should it be made out of, and then I worry about what should it look like. The material, the color of the material, the way it feels, and the way you respond to it is every bit as valid as the form or the shape.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
