David Gill Gallery <\/a>and Zaha Hadid started their collaboration in 2007 with Dune Formations, an interior landscape of furniture pieces with non-specific uses, for the Venice Biennale. This collaboration led to the creation of the first Liquid Glacial collection in 2012.<\/p>\n

UltraStellar is the last furniture collection that Hadid created for her long-term gallerist and close friend David Gill before she past away in March\u00a0at the age of 65.<\/p>\n

The collection \u2013 finished by her practice, Zaha Hadid Architects<\/a> \u2013 references mid-century furniture through its use of wood rather than Hadid\u2019s typical material of choice, clear acrylic.<\/p>\n

Walnut, chosen for its colour, is curved into Hadid\u2019s\u00a0famous\u00a0fluid and sinuous lines. The designer aimed to create sturdy pieces that appear lightweight.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy partner was inspired by seeing some of the timber antiques from the 50s and 60s,\u201d explained Patrik Schumacher, who worked closely with Hadid on UltraStellar.<\/p>\n
