If you\u2019re looking for inspiration for new projects or just hoping to discover new trends, these are the design events in September<\/strong><\/em><\/span> you simply can\u2019t miss!<\/p>\n

Detroit\u2019s Month of Design<\/a><\/h3>\n

1-30 September, Detroit, USA<\/em>
\nFormerly known as the Detroit Design Festival, this month-long celebration of all things design brings together the city\u2019s educational institutions, emerging studios, and established companies to show off their latest work. The project is organized by Design Core Detroit, which was behind the city\u2019s bid to become the first UNESCO City of Design in the U.S.<\/p>\n

London Design Biennial<\/a><\/h3>\n

4-23 September,\u00a0Somerset House, London, UK
\n<\/em>The London Design Biennial returns this year with the theme Emotional States, which aims to explore the ways design influences our emotions. The biennial will take over Somerset House with interactive installations, art, and design solutions by participants from 40 countries, cities, and territories.<\/p>\n

Helsinki Design Week<\/strong><\/h3>\n

5\u201315 September, Helsinki, Finland<\/em>
\nThe range of events organised for the Finnish festival includes exhibitions, fashion shows, talks and workshops, along with a growing number of satellite events. The new Children\u2019s Design Week will also create opportunities for\u00a0the very youngest design fans.<\/p>\n

Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires<\/a><\/h3>\n

6-12 September, Buenos Aires, Argentina
\n<\/em>Art Basel is launching its Cities initiative with Buenos Aires as its first partner. The Argentine capital will host a citywide week of programming curated by Artistic Director Cecilia Alemani, who curated the High Line in New York City and the Italian Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale. Highlights include a \u201ccemetery for the living\u201d installation by Italian provocateur Maurizio Cattelan, a sculptural installation along R\u00edo de la Plata by Argentine artist Eduardo Basualdo, and a series of talks.<\/p>\n

\nThe French capital\u2019s semiannual trade show returns with 3,000 brands, including 600 new exhibitors. This year the fair honors Belgian designer Ramy Fischler, founder of RF Studio, with its prestigious Designer of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

Porto Design Biennale<\/b><\/a><\/h3>\n

\nThe inaugural Porto Design Biennale seeks to analyse the current disciplinary configuration of design, proposing a broad reflection on the emerging transformations that define the new millennium and the role of design in a framework of change. A wide programme of exhibitions, lectures, workshops and presentations will be held in several venues in the cities of Porto and Matosinhos.<\/p>\n

Beijing Design Week<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

\nExhibitions and installations are created in Beijing\u2019s hutongs, industrial warehouses and artists\u2019 communities for this design week.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nOverseen by director Lilli Hollein, Austria\u2019s largest curated design festival features a range of\u00a0exhibitions and site-specific installations. Every year the event also offers an insight into the creative work of another European country, with Finland set to be guest country for 2019.
