Last monday, 21st January was a remarkable day in the\u00a0Portuguese Design and Craftsmanship<\/strong>\u00a0history. In Paris, inside the outstanding\u00a0Maison et Objet<\/strong><\/em>, the Talk conference\u00a0\u201cPortugal: Eldorado archi, design, craft?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0enchanted the audience, showing us how much the future holds for\u00a0Portuguese contemporary art\u00a0and\u00a0design.<\/p>\n

Renowned speakers, as the designers\u00a0Artur Miranda<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jacques Bec<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Oitoemponto<\/strong><\/a>; the artist\u00a0Joana Astolfi<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Studio Astolfi<\/strong><\/a>; and\u00a0Am\u00e2ndio Pereira<\/strong>, founder of\u00a0Covet Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0and CEO of\u00a0Covet Group<\/strong><\/a>, have gathered on this conference to\u00a0share their own ideas and knowledge about the possibilities that merging\u00a0c<\/strong>ontemporary design\u00a0and\u00a0ancient crafting techniques\u00a0in Portugal can bring into the design world.<\/p>\n

Portugal is celebrated as a\u00a0cultural turism wonder<\/strong>, but it is now also becoming a sanctuary for professionals that work in the\u00a0design field<\/strong>. Many,\u00a0architects<\/strong>,\u00a0designers<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0artists<\/strong>, choose to open their workshops, studios and ateliers in the country.<\/p>\n

Several ancient arts, as\u00a0marble work<\/strong>, are a tradition in Portugal, showcased in a lot of exceptional monuments. Some materials, like\u00a0cork<\/strong>\u00a0and some\u00a0woods<\/strong>, can be find in their\u00a0finest quality\u00a0state there and others, as\u00a0exquisite veneers\u00a0are brought from Brazil and Africa since the Discoveries. This old country is known for maintaining good relations of cooperation with other countries that were part of its history.<\/p>\n
