Timeless, breaking boundaries and bringing new and exciting ways to express art, this artist was known as the \u201cPope of Pop\u201d for revolutionizing a style that was just beginning but that would take a new form in the hands of Warhol.<\/p>\n Photo\u00a0\u00a9 Independent<\/a><\/p>\n It was in the 60\u2019s that his career took off when he started painting daily objects of mass production such as the famous Campbell Soup cans and Coke bottles. With something as simple as that, he became a famous figure in the New York art scene.<\/p>\n However, it was only in 1962 that his influence in the pop art movement truly began, when he started making silkscreen prints of famous personalities such as Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor.<\/p>\n Photo\u00a0\u00a9 MoMA<\/a><\/p>\n Photo\u00a0\u00a9 Arteeblog<\/a><\/p>\n Andy Warhol not only wanted to depict mass products in his art, but he also wished to mass produce his works of pop art, which was how The Factory<\/em> was born in 1962, revolutionizing, even to this day, art itself. The Factory was an art studio where he employed \u201cart workers\u201d to mass produce mainly prints and posters of works he did.<\/p>\n Photo\u00a0\u00a9 Revolver Gallery<\/a><\/p>\n His vision of art was to remove the difference between the fine arts and the commercial arts used for all sorts of commercial purposes such as comic books, record albums, advertisement and magazine illustrations. His philosophy was easily expressed in one single sentence:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you think about it, department stores are kind of like museums\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Photo\u00a0\u00a9 Revolver Gallery<\/a><\/p>\n However, it wasn\u2019t just art that Warhol was interested in, but also in the world of film-making, having created over 300 experimental underground films in his Factory<\/em>.<\/p>\n And the film world loved him just as much, with representations of Warhol appearing in countless films over the past few decades, such as in The Doors<\/strong><\/em> (1991) and Men In Black 3<\/em> <\/strong>(2012).<\/p>\n Andy Warhol died February 22, 1987 from complications after a gall bladder operation. More than 2000 people attended the memorial mass at St.Patrick\u2019s Cathedral.\u00a0Two years later, in May 1994 the Andy Warhol Museum opened in his home town Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n Photo\u00a0\u00a9 The Warhol<\/a><\/p>\n He was an inspiration to many, not just in the world of art but to several other people, from furniture brands such as Essential Home, that incorporate inspiration from his art into the world of interior design, to Hollywood directors, artists, designers and others.
