In this AD Show edition Abby Modell will present her work: “Galaxy Collection” featuring her three dimensional wall art and large sculptural objects. Focusing on transparencies and refracted light, Modell creates work that is inspired by the natural swirling formations of the stars, planets and the infinite dimension of the night sky.
Previewed within the collection will be Modell’s Celestial Ocean, a free form artistic interpretation of extraterrestrial liquid water. Fluid organic shapes effortlessly float across the artist’s wall canvas, depicting an imaginary celestial ocean. Watercolor glass forms highlighted with silvered mirroring and Swarovski crystals create a tranquil tidal flow.
Modell will also present new pieces from her “Starburst Collection” of 4’x6’ framed art glass assemblage mirrors. She plays with depth and perception by adding textural objects, including blown and dichroic glass, with matte and gloss finishes, and Swarovski crystals. Ultra-luminous glass mimics Modell’s vision of supernova bursts of light, creating vibrant star formations. Additionally, new large galactic vessels will be shown, focusing on layered elements within the work.
