The 50s return to the center of Madrid in the old Casa Suecia. The building that hosted Hemingway last time in Spain has re-opened as a luxury and Scandinavian-inspired NH hotel.
With the presence of the Mayor of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, yesterday the hotel chain inaugurated its last five stars, for which it acquired and reformed the emblematic Casa de Suecia building, located next to the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. The NH Collection Hotel belongs to the Premium brand of the chain, a category that is perceived as soon as you enter the building through its classic entrance, as well as in the rooms and common spaces and when you go up to contemplate the capital from its terrace of 360 degrees.

In 1956 it was inaugurated in this same place that for decades would be the place of twinning with the Swedish people: the ground floor would house the Scandinavian center and the rest of the building would be the Hotel Sweden, in whose dining room, the Bellman, stayed Lively traditions such as the spring festival or smorgasbord lunches. Big names, like Hemingway or Julio Cortázar, stayed in their rooms.
Today, 60 years later, the NH Sweden returns to its origins with a design in the purest Scandinavian style. Retro Nordic air furnishings, carpets that invite you to take off your shoes and vintage pieces such as a wooden scale resting in one of the bathrooms, are some of the details chosen to make guests feel like the original hotel. If you are on the ground floor, do not be shy and walk through a door next to the lounge bar. You will enter a mixed baths, which are actually a cover: in the background you will find a red velvet outlet, in low light, where we recommend you to order a cocktail and enjoy in a clandestine bar in the image of famous places during the Dry Law.
The hotel has 123 rooms (76 superior, 36 Premium and 11 Suites) spread over 10 floors. The sobriety is blended with the luxury and comfort of the signature Collection: exclusive mattresses designed for the chain or LED TVs of 46 inches. A floor above, on the roof, is the terrace that borders the Circle of Fine Arts. With 150 square meters and a reserved at a second height of 40 meters, the views over the capital encompass a panoramic view with the Post Office building in the center. The catering service is completed by three private function rooms; A lounge bar located on the ground floor (ideal for sipping signature cocktails); And the Casa Suecia restaurant, where the kitchen of Lluis Canadell, owner of the Boca grande restaurant comes to life.
With the opening of the NH Collection Sweden, the NH group becomes the most five-star hotel chain in the capital: a total of four next to NH Collection Palacio de Tepa, NH Collection Paseo del Prado and Hesperia Madrid.
