When we recall the famous show that ran from 2007 until 2015, it is almost like we are entering a unique time capsule for 1960s New York City. Emmy-winning set decorator Claudette Didul said she took the mid-century design inspiration from two 1960s-era books by author Betty Pepis, as well as the 1965 book Decoration U.S.A.

To create the show’s incredible set, the production designer Bill Groom, who searched for mid-century design inspiration in books, Life magazines, and catalogs, has said he copied the latter from a Doris Day movie and sourced the home furnishings from antique dealers.
