Located in a wooded site in North Carolina we can find Trull Residence, a mid-century inspired house that became home to a local family.<\/h2>\n

Trull Residence is the result of extensive work commissioned to architecture firm In Situ Studio. The owners of this amazing home wanted to have a space of their own that was in touch with the outdoors. The result was a low-lying contemporary home that reaches for inspiration in the mid-century architecture<\/strong><\/em><\/span> style, and you\u2019ll quickly see why. Let\u2019s take a look.<\/p>\n

When they first talked to In Situ Studio, the couple who now owns the house was looking for a one-storey residence that was spacious and reached to the outdoors. To achieve that, they found the perfect place to build the house: Cary, a small suburban town located outside North Carolina\u2019s state capital Raleigh. In Cary, they found a wooded property with a small adjacent pound that seemed to tick all the must haves of the owners wish list.<\/p>\n

Once they had found the perfect spot, the architecture firm went on to build a single-storey,\u00a03,097-square-foot dwelling that stretches across the sloping site. Using concrete blocks and warm-toned wood, In Situ Studio built an amazing fa\u00e7ade that stretches on in the shape of an L.<\/p>\n

Inside, there are two wings connected by a single corridor. You would find the bedrooms on the north wing, where the fa\u00e7ade is higher and allows for more privacy. On the southern wing, there is a more common area with an open plan kitchen, dining area, as well as living room. The dining room decor<\/em> was also inspired by the mid-century modern style, with colored chairs that liven up the space.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe grounded bedroom volume, exposed foundation walls, and site walls are clad or formed with a burnished CMU, making them appear very solid<\/em>,\u201d the architects told Dezeen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On the southern wing there are giant glass doors that open onto a grassy yard and a wrap-around terrace, creating the perfect meeting between indoors and outdoors, much like we are used to see in mid-century modern homes.<\/p>\n
