When Palm Springs and one of our favorite designers come together, this is the breathtaking result.<\/h2>\n

A few years ago, Architectural Digest was invited to step inside Emily Summers Palm Springs\u2019 mid-century retreat and decided to share their experience with the rest of the world. Today, we are falling in love with this stunning mid-century modern home<\/strong><\/em><\/span> all over again, as we share it with you and celebrate some of the best interior designers in the world\u2026 Dallas-based Emily Summers.<\/p>\n

Located\u00a0around the links of the Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells, California, Emily Summers mid-century retreat was first unveiled to the world in the April 2012 edition of the world renowned magazine Architectural Digest. Since then, AD has reminded us how stunning the 1960\u2019s Palm Springs\u2019 architecture<\/strong><\/em><\/span> of the house is, exacerbated by the exceptional interiors redone by Emily Summers herself.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When entering this Eldorado residence, we are immediately welcomed by the rich interiors<\/strong><\/span> Summers\u2019 has gotten us used to. In this case, the designer was careful enough so that her design not only fit the mid-century architecture<\/strong><\/em><\/span> of the home but, more than that, enlivened the iconic elements that make up the modern architecture structure of the house.<\/p>\n

Although the original structure of the house was first built during the 1960s, Emily Summers told Architectural Digest that some \u201cunfortunate changes\u00a0had been made to the structure in the \u201980s\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0\u201cThe courtyard had been turned into an entrance with glass-and-steel gates, the beautiful side-entry sequence had been closed off, and it had been given a red-tile mansard roof,<\/em>\u201d explained Emily Summers to Architectural Digest.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, after deciding to work with local architect Lance O\u2019Donnell, the original entry and courtyard were restored to keep the mid-century Palm Springs look we all love so much. Summers and O\u2019Donnell also made some changes in the living area and the kitchen, taking the time to expand it.<\/p>\n

As for furniture, the interior designer told Architectural Digest she first started to play around with whichever pieces she already had. In fact, Emily Summers had an amazing array of mid-century inspired items, which ended up being perfect for the Eldorado home. Unique pieces such as \u201ca wicker chair by Marc Newson, a T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Klismos end table, an original Warren Platner bronze-plated settee and lounge chair\u201d\u00a0<\/em>were carefully selected and put in the right place so as the whole interior design came together.<\/p>\n

There are also a few pops of color every now and then around the house. A very vintage tangerine tone<\/strong><\/span> can be seen in one of the guest bedrooms, as well as a stunning tiffany blue in the master bedroom.<\/p>\n

Contemporary art \u2013 another one of Emily Summers\u2019 signature looks \u2013 was also not forgotten and the designer made sure to carefully select some of her favorite works of art, which include \u201ca\u00a0series of black basalt sculptures by Spaniard Xavier Corber\u00f3, [\u2026]\u00a0watercolor by Mark Adams, [\u2026]\u00a0a vintage French plaster relief, and a Jim Dine lithograph<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
