The news are\u00a0in, and it was less than 24 hours ago that\u00a0Maison & Objet 2018<\/strong><\/em> revealed who the\u00a0Designer of the Year<\/strong><\/em> recipient will be:\u00a0 the incredible Danish furniture designer Cecilie Manz<\/strong>! And if you are not familiar with her work yet, you will have plenty of time to fall in love with it from the 19th until the 23rd of January 2018<\/strong><\/span>!<\/p>\n

MEET\u00a0CECILIE MANZ<\/h4>\n

Cecilie Manz is a Denmark-born furniture designer<\/strong><\/em> that went and founded her studio almost twenty years ago, in 1998. She mostly designs furniture pieces for a home environment, with pieces ranging from furniture to lamps, and even glass. She also likes to experiment with some other prototypes, which are considerably more sculptural and make for an important part of her work.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI view all my works as fragments of one big, ongoing story where the projects are often linked or related in terms of their idea, materials, and aesthetics, across time and function.Some objects remain experiments or sculpted ideas, others are made more concrete and turn into functional tools<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Time<\/p>\n

Over the years, Cecilie Manz has been awarded many prizes in the interior design industry. She has been the recipient of the Thorvald Bindesb\u00f8ll Medal 2011, the Bruno Mathsson Prize 2009, Kunstpreis Berlin 2008, the Finn Juhl Architectural Prize 2007, The Furniture Prize 2007, The Crown Prince Couples Cultural Award 2014, the Three-Year Working Grant from the Danish Arts Foundation and several other grants.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s called \u2018Micado<\/strong>\u2018 and you can\u2019t help but understand why that connection was so brilliantly made. The minimalist piece of Danish furniture can be looked at as a simple bar table, and the light wood contrasts beautifully with the blacktopped legs.<\/p>\n

\"Time<\/p>\n

Meet \u2018Minuscule<\/strong>\u2018, a light upholstered chair that was first designed and brought to life in 2012. Today, they are still as relevant and current as they were five years ago. The simple and minimalist lines of Danish interior design are present throughout the designer\u2019s pieces.<\/p>\n

\"Time<\/p>\n

\u2018Essay<\/strong>\u2018 is a solid wood table, that can be produced in oak, ash, or walnut. It was first presented to the market in 2009, but just like \u2018Minuscule\u2019 it is still making everyone fall in love with Danish furniture design.<\/p>\n

Finally, these stunning seating pieces were cleverly named\u2019 Souffl\u00e9\u2019. \u2018Souffl\u00e9\u2019 is a series of poufs and tables that were made for Offecct. But who knows, maybe in January you will be able to see them live at your favorite furniture fair<\/strong><\/em>: Maison et Objet!<\/p>\n
