Founded by Tabitha Teuma<\/strong>, when faced with the challenge of renovating her 1960s London apartment, the Mid-Century Magazine<\/em><\/strong> started in 2011.<\/p>\n

This is the only UK-Based publication dedicated to the best of 20th<\/sup> Century Design<\/em><\/strong>. It all started when Teuma, that had edited an arts journal for a couple of year was looking to start its own magazine. She had some ideas during the renovation of her apartment, and some knowledge on Mid-Century Furniture as well as Interior Design. Combining that with the fact that there weren\u2019t magazines about this subject on the UK, the Mid-Century Magazine<\/em><\/strong> was born.<\/p>\n

\u201cI set out to create my own magazine that celebrated real mid-century interiors, architecture and design, for people just like me!\u201d<\/h4>\n

Tabitha Teuma<\/strong>\u2019s love for Mid-Century began when she moved to the top floor apartment of a 1964 building, in South-east London. There, she started to appreciate this amazing style and its preoccupation with space and lighting. She felt that the space needed slim-line Mid-Century furniture, so she took a lot of enjoyment searching for pieces that fitted with the aesthetic.<\/p>\n

Mid-Century style has had a huge resurgence in recent years. According to Tabitha Teuma, that\u2019s due to the fact that:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe longevity of mid-century modern and its influence on contemporary design today is down to both style and substance. Its pared-down aesthetic forms the basis for contemporary design because it captures the essence of modernity \u2013 its purity of form tends to sit well in both contemporary and period homes, providing a versatile aesthetic. \u201d<\/h4>\n

During the growth of the magazine, Teuma was able to find a team who shared the same love for Mid-Century Design<\/strong> as she does.<\/p>\n

\"Mid-Century<\/a><\/p>\n

However, with 10 issues published, an app and an interactive website, it was time to put the magazine to bed. With a young family and a day job, even with all the generous offers that were made, Tabitha Teuma couldn\u2019t devote enough time to expanding the business.<\/p>\n

We all hope that one day we will see the Mid-Century Magazine <\/em><\/strong>again.<\/p>\n
