This is a cultural and religious celebration, in honor of the death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Green has been associated with Ireland since at least 1640, when the Irish Catholic Confederation used the green harp flag. During the 1790s, green would become associated with Irish nationalism and throughout the 19\u2019s and 20\u2019s the association with St Patrick\u2019s Day grew.<\/p>\n
