How do I recognize the mid-century style?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Flat Planes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s very easy to notice that most of these homes have very regular and rigorous geometric lines. One of the most regular features of them all is the roofs. It\u2019s very common to see flat planes, and they instantly became one of the most popular features in mid-century homes<\/a><\/strong>, making them truly iconic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Large windows<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sliding-glass doors and other expansive panes of glass allowed light to enter rooms from multiple angles. Natural light was extremely important in mid-century modern architecture<\/a><\/strong> and so the design of the house brought that mix of nature with indoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eero Saarinen<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Eero Saarinen was a 20th-century\u00a0Finnish American\u00a0architect\u00a0and\u00a0industrial designer\u00a0noted for his mid-century modern <\/a><\/strong>and neo-futuristic\u00a0style. Some of his most famous works include the now-closed TWA Terminal at the JFK airport, as well as the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe<\/strong>\u00a0was a German-American\u00a0architect<\/strong><\/a>. Along with\u00a0Le Corbusier,\u00a0Walter Gropius\u00a0and\u00a0Frank Lloyd Wright, he is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of\u00a0modernist architecture. For some reason, the rough landscape of the Californian region served as an inspiration to many architects, which decided to site their creations in the desert lands of Palm Springs.
