DAVID COLLINS<\/strong>
\n(1955-2013)<\/p>\n

Born and raised in Dublin,\u00a0David Collins<\/a>\u2018s childhood ambitions might have denied the world some of the most precious interiors of the 20th and 21st centuries. Luckily, his family put pay to fashion designer and musician aspirations while an aversion to latin prevented a career in law. Instead, David followed his father\u2019s footsteps with a degree at Bolton Street School of Architecture.<\/p>\n

From Dublin, he had travelled Europe, settling in London where, in 1985, serendipity would have him redecorate a friend\u2019s home- a design that was later seen by Pierre Koffmann who enlisted Collins to design La Tante Claire. These kind of projects were the foundations of David Collins Studio. At the time, a modest practice specialized in small interior and architectural\u00a0jobs. Chance decisions and opportunities had led David to the point where he would definitely begin to define his innovative creative vision.<\/p>\n

From those early beginnings, David and his business partner (Iain Watson) set out to bring\u00a0a new form of thinking to the design industry<\/strong>. The vision was clear: projects that are a mature counterpoint between aesthetics and rationale.<\/p>\n

So, inspired by the approach of 20th-century modernist titans like Eileen Gray, Le Corbusier and Mies Van der Rohe, David and Ian conceptualized a Studio that employed a team covering all elements of interior and architectural practice. This multidisciplinary team facilitated a multifaceted approach ensuring an initial concept that could be developed, detailed and successfully delivered trough to the final stages. Adhering to Can der Rohe\u2019s adage that\u00a0\u2018God is in the details\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n
