Before we delve into what we are here to discuss, we thought you might like to get acquainted and find out why, who, and how we are going to do this from here on\u2026 If you are an Essential Home lover, or follower on their social media, you have probably picked up on the fact that one of its main inspirations comes from the golden age of Hollywood. We are talking about the mid 1930s all the way to the 1960s and 70s. With that in mind, we have decided to start a bi-weekly signature<\/strong> where we talk about what we love the most (aside from mid-century furniture, of course\u2026): CINEMA<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Now, your next question before we begin might be something along the lines of \u201cwhy \u2018Rear Window\u2019?\u201d.\u00a0<\/em>Well, not only is\u00a0Rear Window<\/em> one of\u00a0the\u00a0<\/em>best movies ever made by man but we believe it is also a great reflection of what our bi-weekly signature is: a discreet look over some of the subjects we believe to be some of the most exciting to any Essential Home lover.<\/p>\n

Without further ado, let\u2019s take a look at some of the best classic movies<\/em> ever!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s<\/h4>\n

Everyone loves Audrey Hepburn, and Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s is probably one of her most famous movies.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>we love the tale of\u00a0Holly Golightly and the elegant subtlety of Audrey Hepburn\u2019s character fashion choices, which, ultimately, were what helped turn her into the fashion icon she still is to this day.<\/p>\n

Casablanca<\/h4>\n

\"Rear<\/p>\n

More than a war tale, Casablanca is a forbidden love story we can\u2019t help but love. We can still hear Sam playing his piano in Rick\u2019s caf\u00e9 in Casablanca.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>Casablanca has delivered more iconic lines in the history of cinema than probably any other movie ever made. One of our favorites is the timeless nostalgic goodbye signed off with \u201cWe\u2019ll always have Paris\u2026\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Psycho<\/h4>\n

\"Rear<\/p>\n

One for all the Hitchcock aficionados out there, and at Essential Home. Psycho is one of the best movies ever, there is no doubt about that, and Norman Bates\u00a0odd\u00a0<\/em>(to say the least) relationship with is\u00a0mother<\/em> will forever be engraved in our minds.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>not only is the story one of the most compelling ones of the 20th century cinema, Psycho has an amazing cinematography we can\u2019t stay indifferent to. Let\u2019s not also forget about the most famous shower scene ever, that still haunts us to this day.<\/p>\n

Rebel Without a Cause<\/h4>\n

\"Rear<\/p>\n

James Dean might not have had a long carreer, but he made sure to make his mark in every movie we worked on. Rebel without a Cause is probably is best known film, and one of those old classic movies we will never forget.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>it is probably one of the first movies to ever address the theme of\u00a0teen angst<\/em>, and it beautifully did so. Of course, the tragic early ends of the movie co-stars also add to this mystique.<\/p>\n

Singin\u2019 in the Rain<\/h4>\n

Singin\u2019 in the Rain is yet another one of those movies you need to watch at least once in your lifetime. It features two huge Hollywood icons: Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly, so you know it\u2019s a\u00a0no miss\u00a0<\/em>movie.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>Gene Kelly\u2019s unforgettable performance. That\u2019s as simple as that.<\/p>\n

Gone with the Wind<\/h4>\n

\"Rear<\/p>\n

Gone with the Wind not only won the Oscar for Best Picture but it was also the first movie to ever give an African-American citizen the opportunity to win the most important award in the movie industry.\u00a0Hattie McDaniel was the first African-American actor to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and she rightfully did so.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>despite it having been criticized by its political views, we shan\u2019t forget Gone with the Wind was shot before the 2nd World War erupted, and it is still to this day one of the most famous movies ever made.<\/p>\n

Vertigo<\/h4>\n

\"Rear<\/p>\n

The psychological thriller about a former police detective\u2019s obsession with a woman is one of Hitchcock\u2019s most acclaimed movies, and it has recently even guaranteed the first place in the Best Films list compiled by the British Film Institute.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>it\u2019s yet another Hitchcock classic, showing everyone why he is arguably one of the best directors Hollywood has ever seen.<\/p>\n

Rear Window<\/h4>\n

\"Rear<\/p>\n

One of the first Hitchcock technicolor movies that came out in 1954,\u00a0Rear Window<\/em> is a psychological mystery thriller movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock that is considered by many as one of the best movies ever made. We couldn\u2019t agree more on that.<\/p>\n

Why we love it so much:\u00a0<\/strong>we obviously love it enough to make it the inspiration for our signature here at Mid-Century Furniture Blog. What we particularly love is the intricate and compelling storytelling<\/strong> about a photographer who is bound to his apartment and his wheelchair and spends his days spying on his front neighbors, ended up convinced that one of them has committed murder. But have they?<\/p>\n
