While we wait for the next edition of this amazing Summit, how about we tell you all about these two incredible days?<\/h2>\n

The first Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>has come to and end, and while it may leave us dreading for January to come with its second edition, now it\u2019s the time to wrap everything up and tell you exactly why we loved this design event so much. Read on to find why we loved it so much and what you can expect for the next Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit<\/strong> in January 2019<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

For the first time ever in Portugal, a design-driven event brought together thinkers and makers from the design and luxury marketing industries. From the 20th to the 21st of June, hundreds of people gathered at Pavilh\u00e3o Multiusos in Gondomar, Porto, to hear experienced voices of the industries talk about their path to success and discuss craftsmanship as a driving force of the luxury design world.<\/p>\n

During the first day we had the chance to hear Covet Group\u2019s CEO present this pioneering idea and moderate the first panel \u2018The Value of Craftsmanship for the Luxury World<\/strong>\u2018. Here we could hear Nicole Segundo, Representative\/ Network Developer to Portugal for the\u00a0Michaelangelo Foundation<\/a><\/strong>; F\u00e1tima Santos, General Secretary of the\u00a0AORP<\/a><\/strong>; Luis Onofre<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, Portuguese shoe designer and representative of APICCAPS; and Antonio Moura<\/strong>, business developer.<\/p>\n

This first day was also marked by hundreds of people making their way through the pavilion to get to know the artisans on set and learn a little bit more about their crafts, which were all being worked live!<\/p>\n

The second and last day had not one but two panels dedicated to the luxury design world, happening throughout the day. The first panel, \u2018Design as a Driving Force of Local Craftsmanship<\/strong>\u2018, gathered two huge names in the luxury industry in Portugal: Vista Alegre<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, and fashion house Storytailors<\/span><\/a>,<\/strong> as well as Serena Confalonieri\u00a0and\u00a0Francesca Merciani, from Doppia<\/strong>\u00a0Firma<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, and <\/em>Toni Grilo<\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0product designer.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to hear the second panel of the day, dedicated to marketing and the approach each brand chooses to communicate their products and services. \u2018Luxury Branding: Behind the Scenes Story<\/strong>\u2018 gave us the chance to hear\u00a0Carlos Santos, head of Carlos Santos Shoes<\/span><\/a>,<\/strong> Jorge Martins, from RomBoats<\/strong>, Marco Costa, Boca do Lobo\u2019s<\/strong><\/span><\/a> Creative Director and CEO, and Carla Gra\u00e7a, Marketing Manager at Vista Alegre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lastly, this Summit dedicated to the luxury world<\/strong> gave many of us the opportunity to first be introduced to the arts and crafts that make these products a reality. The live showcase that happened during the two days of the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit put together dozens of master artisans,<\/strong> who showed us how craft techniques<\/strong> such as gilding, chiseling, carving, upholstery and many others can be worked to create unique handmade products that then make their way to our homes.<\/p>\n
