Furniture design with no boundaries and endless creativity, that’s Gaetano Pesce’s design philosophy.
Taking one look at Gaetano Pesce’s furniture design along his career, the creativity flow and the inspiration that emanates from every piece is as overwhelming as it is incredible. Architect and designer that has worked all over the world, today we take a look at Gaetano Pesce‘s incredible career and work!
Born in La Spezia, Gaetano Pesce started his activity during the 60’s, realising great pieces of design destined to impress the national and international market. He is able to achieve this with remarkable pieces that break boundaries and challenge design itself.
His remarkable work has been recognised with important award winning designs, such as Chrysler Award for Innovation and Design, the Architektur and Wohnen Designer of the Year, and the Lawrence J. Israel Prize from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
The secret of his success consists in his ability of surprising his public with groundbreaking and revolutionary pieces of modern art, that make his creations unique and inimitable.
Since the beginning of his career, he has given a proof of his astonishing, odd and eccentric spirit. In all his work, he expresses his guiding principle: that modernism is less a style than a method for interpreting the present and hinting at the future in which individuality is preserved and celebrated.
A completely different example of modern art is given by “Senza fine Unica”, an armchair in polychrome PVC, which undefined boundaries break all the rules of geometrical regularity.
Pesce’s work is featured in over 30 permanent collections of the most important museums in the world, such as MoMa of New York and San Francisco, Metropolitan Museum in New York, Vitra Museum in Germany, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Pompidou Center and Musee des Arts Décoratifs of Louvre in Paris; he exhibits art in galleries world wide.
Boundaries between art, design and industry are irrelevant to him, as to him art is most certainly not something created and put on a pedestal: art is a product, it is our creative response to the needs of the time we live in, and it’s a motto that inspires all design aficionados every day.
