Since it was first founded, Essential Home has been heavily influenced by the cinematographic world. With several designs inspired by some of the most important Hollywood personalities of the 1950s and 1960s, it’s only natural that we consider ourselves avid consumers of great movies and tv shows. La Casa de Papel

One of Netflix’s latest flicks, La Casa de Papel is a Spanish drama that tells the story of a an enigmatic character called The Professor as he plots to carry out the biggest robbery in history.
Why we love it so much: the entire plot is so intricate and unexpected, that makes us repeatedly think ‘how could anyone be so clever as to write something so well thought?’. Every detail counts, and the storytelling is just genius!
This Is Us

One of the most endearing and honestly best tv shows of recent times, This Is Us takes us on the journey of a family between two generations, and on to discover the fatidic fate of the family’s patriarch.
Why we love it so much: the first season got us completely glued to the TV as we fell in love with Jack, Rebecca and the Big Three. The second season is beautiful in its own way, making us love and cherish every second before the day.
The Good Place

How in the world did Eleonor Shellstrop ended up in heaven, or should we say, ‘the good place’? This genius comedy comes from the mind of Netflix producers, and it tells the story of four humans as they discover their place in the afterlife.
Why we love it so much: first of all, the production design made an amazing work trying to create the most perfect-unperfect world. A world where not everything is what it seems. And the amazing plot twist at the end of the first season got us completely hooked!
The End of the F***ing World

The End of the Fu***ing World comes at a time when we thought nothing so good could be made after so many top tv series produced by Netflix. Yet, here we are… The Netflix tv show tells us the story of two sweet naive teenagers after they decide to run away from home in very unique conditions.
Why we love it so much: the cinematography is stunning, as is the color palette chosen by the photography team. More than that, the character growth is so real, and so deep, we can’t help but fall in love with these two characters.
American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

After a fan favorite, ‘The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story’, Ryan Murphy came back with a second season of American Crime Story, this time retelling the events before, and following the assassination of Gianni Versace.
Why we love it so much: again, we have to make reference to the cinematography and the production design. Both teams made such a beautiful job at creating the luxurious life of Versace, and the beachy life of Miami in the 90s that we couldn’t stay indifferent to it. And then, there’s Penelope Cruz’ and Darren Criss’ performances of a lifetime…
Dark

If you liked Stranger Things, you are going to love Dark! Set in a German town, Dark takes us through the journey of four german families after the disappearance of two young children exposes their true intricate relationships.
Why we love it so much: first of all, we love how the concept of time travel is addressed and how it keeps on giving us a window into how the four families evolved through the decades. Then, there’s that continuous feeling of claustrophobia that you’d never expect from a tv show…
Wormwood

A unique view into some of United State’s darkest secrects, Wormwood might be one of the best new tv shows of recent times. You’ll see this case be reviewed from every possible angle, not letting anything to chance.
Why we love it so much: Peter Sarsgaard unique performance could be more than enough reason to love this miniseries as much as we do. However, there is also Errol Morris’ singular vision and unique interview-conducting style that will keep you glued to your seat!
Black Mirror

After three seasons that kept us at the edge of our seats, Netflix has done it again, and Black Mirror came back last December better than ever. The 6 hour-long episodes followed different stories and perspectives of how technology changed the world in a utopian future. Above, you can see a still from the first episode of season 4.
Why we love it so much: the fourth season came back with great directing, a great production design, and yet another compelling storytelling. All the reasons to love Black Mirror were back in December, and if you loved San Junipero (from the 3rd season) as much as we did, then you can’t miss ‘Hang the DJ’!
Counterpart

Counterpart tells the story of a UN employee that ends up discovering that the agency we works for has been hiding a gateway into a parallel dimension. Who’s the employee? You’ve guessed it… The legendary J. K. Simmons, making it one the best tv shows to watch of 2018!
Why we love it so much: first of all, J. K. Simmons. The Academy Awarded-actor is the main reason we love Counterpart so much. The second reason is that, instead of focusing on all the sci-fi details of how the actual portal would work, it crafts a compelling suspensful spy thriller we can’t help but get glued to.
Black Lightning

Our last popular tv series is Netflix super hero show, Black Lightning. The streaming show tells the story of a retired superhero that comes back to serve as a vigilante for justice.
Why we love it so much: it makes superhero stories much more real by adapting the vigilantes story with real life situations we could all relate to. The dialogue is also satisfyingly good, making us indulge in some of the most clever screenwriting of recent times.
