The Auditorium Parco della Musica has been, since 2006, the location where the red carpet events and all the major film screening sessions happen. However, the Rome international film festival has many other events happening around the city, such as master classes, tributes, retrospectives, panels and other special events.

What can you see at the Rome Film Fest?

For the 12th edition of the film fest, movie aficionados will be able to see multiple premieres and screenings. From original and outstanding Italian film productions to French, Dutch and American features, this will be one of those events you definitely shouldn’t miss! Here are some of the movies we are most excited about:

Hostiles with Christian Bale will be the opening film of the festival. Here’s a summary: “1892. The legendary army captain Joseph J. Blocker reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne Indian chief and his family back to their tribal lands. The two erstwhile antagonists face a voyage that is a genuine odyssey: a thousand-mile march from Fort Berringer, an isolated outpost in New Mexico, to the prairies of Montana. During the journey they meet a young widow whose family has been murdered in those very prairies, and now they will all struggle to stay alive in that pitiless landscape, with its hostile Comanche tribes.”

Detroit, Kathryn Bigelow, USA

The story is inspired by the bloody riots that shook Detroit in 1967. The streets of the city became the scene of a massacre perpetrated by the police, in which three African-Americans lost their lives and hundreds of people were seriously wounded. The next riot led to unprecedented disorders, forcing a late coming to terms with what happened on that ignominious day fifty years ago.

Over the Rainbow” was three young people’s favorite album in the summer of ’43. They met at teenager Fulvia’s summer house. Milton and Giorgio, the former thoughtful and reserved, the latter attractive and outgoing, fall hard for Fulvia, already a woman, who strings them both along. One year later Milton is a resistance fighter who finds the villa shuttered. The caretaker recognizes him and insinuates that there was something between Fulvia and Giorgia. This stops Milton in his tracks. The resistance, his friendships, all mean nothing. Wildly jealous, he needs the truth, and sets out across the foggy Langhe hills to find Giorgio, whom the fascists, however, have taken prisoner.
