Central Perk
Could there be an even more iconic set than the Central Perk one? Only Monica’s apartment compares, but not when it comes to vibrant vibe of the space. Over the course of 10 years, this was the ultimate hangout spot for our favorite characters, and it continues to bring an heavy emotional and nostalgic feeling to our hearts.
“The idea was to have it feel like it was kind of a living room, hang out space,” explains the set decorator.
Is there anything more iconic than that orange upholstered sofa? With a vintage touch, it has been one of the most well-remembered pieces of the show, bringing a special sense of nostalgia. Since the first time Rachel entered Central Perk in a wedding dress, through the various moments of sadness, happiness, celebrating a new job or crying about losing one, to Joey’s talks about the girls he was dating, to Chandler’s sarcastic remarks, even Rachel taking a coffee after a shopping spree, this sofa has seen it all.

Monica’s Apartment
Another iconic set of the show was Monica’s apartment. Who could forget the purple walls, the yellow frame on the door, our favorite characters hanging around the sofa and center table, the balcony? The apartment features an eclectic style with a lot of creativity and style.
“I felt like Monica’s apartment was pretty iconic,” Grande (set decorator) says. “The guys have some fun transformation over the years; there was things that changed in there from season to season that kind of made it fun and creative for me, but Monica’s was definitely the standout.”
Monica’s apartment was definitely ahead of its time, especially considering the mismatched set of dining chairs. Now, it’s a trend, back then it was meant to showcase Monica’s good eye, meticulous nature and creativity. The kitchen of Monica’s apartment reflects her love for cooking, as well as keeping things clean, her OCD showing in the way everything is so organized and perfectly fitting together, much like the group of friends itself.

The big armchairs in Monica’s apartment are just as iconic as the rest of the furniture pieces. Although they are neutral and simple pieces, they were the home of many precious moments on the show, such as that time when Phoebe laid down and waited to find out if she was pregnant, or the time Joey and Chandler bickered on who would get to sit down on it.

Joey & Chandler’s Apartment
Monica’s apartment may be iconic but who doesn’t remember the amazing times spent at the guy’s apartment? From building a fort in the middle of the living room to dropping spaghetti to the floor, Joey and Chandler’s place was a symbol of freedom and playfulness. Who could forget the Etch A Sketch on the back of their front door or that time the girls and the guys switched apartments after a trivia game? Truly iconic.
