Gucci and Essential Home go together like black and white, two faces of the same coin.
Since the very beginning, Essential Home, a luxury brand of mid-century modern furniture pieces, has taken Gucci as one of its main inspirations for their work. Today, we take a look at Gucci fashion editorials and place it side by side with some of our favorite Essential Home’s pieces. Inspirational, both of these brands are the peak of design in their own world.

For the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, Karen Elson wears a crew-neck velvet gown on the waist from Gucci Pre-Fall 2017, shot by Richard Phibbs. It’s easy to see the inspiration Essential Home took from this brand, designing a dining chair with incredibly attractive velvet, bringing us back to the mid-century style that is so present in many of Gucci editorials and their own designs.
Collins dining chair is designed with a classic retro chic feel, and comes finely upholstered in velvet, supported by tapered glossy black legs with rich accents of polished brass. It has welted stitches on the seat and a stylist degree reclining on the crescent open back. The backrest is convex, allowing comfortable seating, and perfect to pair with a circular dining table.
Featuring three flap pockets and a wide lapel, the new Mitford formal jacket from Gucci Spring Summer 2018 appears in the April issue of Icon Panorama. Essential Home decides to take their inspiration not only from design pieces like this, but also from all the way back to the 50’s, searching far and wide for the best actors of glamorous Hollywood, and bringing us an armchair that feels as vintage with a modern and contemporary twist as Gucci delivers every time.
Inspired by Hollywood icons, Dean, this leather upholstered armchair, has a slender boxy look and curvy arms. Its frame construction is classic, made of lacquered wood and polished brass, giving it an unmistakable characteristic of a lounge chair.
Spotted in the April issue of Vogue Paris, an embroidered shirt and pants trimmed with House Web stripe from Gucci Spring Summer 2017 by Alessandro Michel. We can’t get over the golden undertones, the luxurious feel of the fabric, and we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to show an incredible piece by Essential Home, taking advantage of the glamour, sophistication and luxury of polished brass in golden, with a trendy tropical design.
Miranda is a fanciful and gold-colored pineapple table lamp. Built in the shape of a classic pineapple, which has been a classic symbol used in decorative arts and architecture, this modern table lamp conveys a sense of hospitality. Finished in gold plated brass, it is named after Carmen Miranda, as she used to wear colorful and tropical fruits on her head. Miranda is a unique brass table lamp.
Flowing in Times Square: Hari Nef wore a Fall Winter 2017 gown in the Harper’s Bazaar August issue story on Gucci Bloom, the first women’s scent by Alessandro Michele. This Winter, however, there is nothing like a velvet sofa with as much comfort as style. As stunning as Gucci’s gown, Essential Home brings us pieces of design that we can bring to our homes, icons that we can use in our every day decor.
Sophia is a particular bench seat sofa that draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Mid-century Modern Design. It is upholstered in a neutral-colored velvet, stitched from the top to the bottom. The base is made of gold plated brass and it has button tufted sides. The slightly degree reclining turns it into a lounge sofa.
Straight out of the Fall/Winter 2016 collection, we take this relic, incredible fashion design by Gucci on another editorial that feels like a dream. When it comes to furniture pieces, Essential Home brings us another armchair in velvet, a real tribute to the glamorous mid-century modern style, such as the inspiration behind some of the most classical fashion designs of Gucci.
Inspired by the seductive movements of some of the most iconic Hollywood personalities, Monroe crescent accent chair is an elegant and retro chic piece of furniture inspired by the 60’s design legacy.
