Jiyu Gakuen

So, lets start straight away with a school. This one is quite special, though.

Completed in 1921, this building was designed by the renowned america architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

This school has a total of four buildings; the main one, the east, and the west buildings (the classroom buildings)- forming a U-shape- and the auditorium. The buildings were built considering horizontal lines so that the outline of the architectural masterpieces blends in with the landscape.

Tokyo City Hall

This government building is one of the tallest skyscrapers of the world, being 800 ft (243 mts) tall. It has 48 floors and was completed in 1991.

The construction of the building costed over 150 billion yens ($ 1 billion) of tax-payers money.

Although this is not as famous a building as the tower of Tokyo, this building is able to maintain its important figure by appearing in many Japanese science-fiction films as an authoritarian symbol.

Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower

Another Educational purposed building in our list, this one is over 200 meters (670ft) tall and has over 50 stories.

This building welcomes students from 3 very distinct study areas, like fashion, medicine and space technology.

This architectural beauty was completed in 2008, being one of the most recent and historical buildings in Tokyo.

No wonder this building is so famous, it is the second biggest one in the world, with over 630 meters in height (second only to Burj Khalifa, in the United Arab Emirates).

Probably the most surprising thing? It is a broadcasting building.

Its construction ended in the beginning of 2012 and costed over $800 million (65 billion yens).
