Shopping
You don’t really need a reason to go shopping, but if you want one… SALES! Yes, that’s true. Paris marks the beginning of the year with their annual January sales. Pre-approved by the préfectures (local governments) of each département in a very French way, the sales start at the beginning of the month and the local stores have some of the best deals you will find all year. Here are some of our favorite places to shop:
Printemps
A huge Paris department store, Printemps focus is mainly on beauty, lifestyle, fashion, accessories, and men’s wear. Meaning, you will probably find everything you are looking for in one place!
Galeries Lafayette
One of those places you really can’t miss when you’re in Paris, Galeries Lafayette is much more than a department store. Not only is it the flagship store of the group, but is also one of the most gorgeous department stores in the world! You can find brands such as Louis Vuitton, MAC, Mulberry, and Chanel.
La Grande Parade de Paris
If you’re spending New Year’s Eve in Paris, you might want to stay one more day and attend La Grande Parade de Paris. It will begin at 2pm, starting and ending at Place de la Concorde, heading up Champs-Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe and back again. An unmissable event that will mark the beginning of a great year.
Picasso 1932
If you’re a lover of the 20th century inspired products, Picasso has to be on your list of most loved artists. The Spanish painter is one of the most renowned artists of the mid 20th century, having stunning Cubist pieces that are known all over the world. Picasso 1932 is an exhibition dedicated to all the great masterpieces created by Pablo Picasso during that year, that will be running until February 11 at Musée Picasso.
Paris Fashion Week
Well, the truth is you can’t actually attend Paris Fashion Week without an invitation. However, if you manage to get your hands on an invitation, don’t miss the opportunity to attend a fashion show! It might be a lifetime opportunity and you will have a blast, getting to know first-hand all the trends that will dictate Spring/Summer trends for the upcoming year!
