While we wait for Benjamin Moore to announce their 2019 Color of the Year, let’s take a walk down memory lane.
Benjamin Moore are scheduled to present their 2019 Color of the Year two weeks from now, on the 11th of October! This gives us little to no time to make a worthy recap of some of our favorite colors of the last years. And even though we can still vividly remember this year’s Caliente, we’re sure there are some other colors your memory doesn’t seem to recall right away. Let’s take a look at all of them and make a few guesses on what the color trends 2019 might bring our way.

2014 – Breath of Fresh Air
In 2014 Benjamin Moore selected as their Color of the Year this soothing tone that has an equally uplifting name, Breath of Fresh Air. This pastel tone came as the perfect home paint color for those who were looking for something fresh for their homes. A stunning coastal inspired blue undertone that made way for a spectacular 2015 Color of the Year…

2015 – Guilford Green
Keeping things simple, minimalist, and light, 2015 brought us Guilford Green. Another coastal-inspired color, this particular tone of green will automatically take us to a stunning beach house where the wind is making its way through the windows and everything seems perfect.

2016 – Simply White
Out with the green, and in with all the colors, meaning white. Simply white was a wonderful choice made by Benjamin Moore for 2016, when contemporary, minimalist interiors were still everything and white color schemes seemed to be everything people wanted for their homes.

2017 – Shadow
In 2018 we have Ultra Violet by Pantone, and in 2017 we had this stunning Shadow color by Benjamin Moore. Although two very different tones, one thing they did have in common was the ability to take us into something absolutely new! After Simply White, Shadow came as a much-needed intermission from the overly minimalist interiors, a trend that seemed to have stick to these days.

2018 – Caliente
2018 brought us Caliente by Benjamin Moore. Caliente AF-290 came us a seductive color that made way for warmer and bolder interiors, mixing pop culture references such as The Handmaid’s Tale now iconic uniforms and the need to bring an energetic fresh new color to our homes.

2019 – ?
Sherwin-Williams have already announced their 2019 Color of the Year and, so far, we are loving it. The color institute presented Cavern Clay SW 7701 as their color choice for the upcoming year, and if the stars align and other color authorities decide to go a similar way, we will have a year dedicated to warm pastel colors and undertones.
Here at Mid-Century Furniture Blog, we know we’re cheering for a new year dedicated to mid-century modern design and the warm, classic color palette we all love so much!
